Competing in the Bassmaster Central Opens
As many of you may have heard, in January of 2010, BASS announced the closing of the Women's Bassmaster Tour. It came as a shock to all the women who were competing on this Tour and it was a sad day for all.
However, BASS, did invite the top 30 Pros and Co-Anglers on the WBT to compete in their OPEN divisions, which I decided to do. Each OPEN Division is made up of 3 tournaments. I chose to fish only the Central Division this year, which is Lake Amistad, the Red River and Lake Texoma. In April I competed at Lake Amistad and in June on the Red River....both of which I did not do well.
Back in February, I was at the Bassmaster Classic in Birmingham, AL helping my sponsors Mercury Marine and American Rodsmiths. I was also at the Academy Sports & Outdoors booth signing autographs and meeting new people.
Also in February, I gave seminars at the Bass Pro Shops in Pearland, Katy and San Antonio, TX stores.
The 3rd tournament on Lake Texoma is not until October, so I have some down time, or so I thought. I have been staying busy guiding on Toledo Bend, doing more seminars, but also taking time to be with family and grandkids.
